Dr. Olufemi “Femi” Adams is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon joining Advanced Retina in September 2025. He completed his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the world-renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia—one of the nation’s most competitive and prestigious retina training programs.

Dr. Adams earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago – Pritzker School of Medicine, following his undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. He completed his internship at Hennepin Healthcare and his ophthalmology residency at the University of Minnesota, where he served in various leadership roles and was awarded the Richard Olson Best Teaching Award every year of residency—a distinction never before achieved in the program’s history.

At Wills Eye, Dr. Adams received comprehensive training in the medical and surgical management of retinal diseases, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, macular holes, and inherited retinal disorders. He was awarded the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship, one of the most distinguished and selective honors in ophthalmology. He has authored peer-reviewed publications in leading journals and presented his research at both national and international conferences, contributing to the advancement of the field.

Dr. Adams has also been recognized for his clinical excellence and commitment to compassionate care, with honors including induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS).
